Difficult at first, but the most accessible and arguably the best of the Microphones. I say this for new listeners weary of taking the plunge. But if you give it time, you'll find this, and many other albums of Elverum's, to be absolutely brilliant. Easily one of my favorite records of all time.

before your lips produce a solitary note, a great trumpet and the rumbling of the earth announces the approach of the son
of man. as you watch him climb the great rise towards where you stand, you remember your last encounter. the taste of
his alabaster skin. the unbearable anticipation, as his lips traced a path down your nape, chest, stomach. you remember
the warmth. surrounded by flames and sulfur for all those years, you never forgot the warmth you felt, swaddled to his
chest, his breath hot on your neck. centuries of the most heinous torture; prodding, blistering, burning the unfortunate
souls in your domain, and you could never come close to inflicting such a powerful heat on someone. if only it had ended
differently.
