"Every Night My Teeth..." is a hard bop - played it on my alma mater's radio station yesterday (well, two days ago UTC)

This gets sort of lost behind Hospice and Familiars sometimes for me, but whenever I give it a full spin it's bliss

one of the few albums that are back-loaded imo, every night to putting the dog to sleep is just a gorgeous run

I think it's amazing from start to finish. Rolled Together is so simple yet it has some amazing atmosphere and vibe. I come back to this the most and listen to Hospice only on bad days.

me thinks its perfectly balanced. the notable highlights are every night & putting the dog to sleep though for sure

On first few spins, I'm digging this, but not as much as Attic and Hospice. Feels a bit more "professional" if that makes any sense.

Really surprised by that impression. The atmosphere here can be amazing.

Yeah I love these guys. Only album I'm not sold on is their debut; it's nice but doesn't make an impression. Everything else they've done has ranged from pretty good to life-changing.
|
| |
yeah the debut is an obvious outlier but silberman had hardly even found his feet - since then they've gone from strength to strength, hospice is still my favourite but this, familiars, attic (your favourite i believe) and even recently the newer one, are all great to, as you say, life changing.

My favorite will probably always be Attic -- I've always been something of a space nerd, so the themes on that one blow me away. Hospice is the consensus pick and rightfully so...they've never matched the heartwrenching emotion of that storyline. Familiars and Burst Apart fall into the category of atmospheric mastery for me; I don't have an overwhelming personal attachment to either, but they both sound jaw-dropping. The Undersea EP also fits there. The newest one is kinda on the weaker side honestly (relative to their other work, not in general), although I've found that it has a very inimitable Autumn feel that I adore.

| |
lyrically i struggle to think of many greater achievements than silberman's metaphor for the final months of an emotionally abusive relationship than hospice, but yeah i can pretty much agree with the pairing of this and familiars as perfect atmospheric mastery, perhaps putting the newest with impermanence
for me attic comes just behind this and familiars but i could probably easily bump that to a 4
