Can this really be this bad? El Cielo was great... I can't believe that the same band could make something so universally reviled
i didn't believe it either, so i listened to it. if you need an explanation, you could do the same, but it is pretty bad so it's up to you

honestly i think the vocals are what make this bad. gavins really not a pop singer, his voice is more suited for atmospheric or alternative stuff which is why it worked so well on el cielo and catch without arms.. almost all the vocal melodies fail hard here
CWA is a very poppy album though.

I can imagine damn near every song on that album getting radio airplay, therefore, it's poppy.
That's not necessarily a bad thing though. CWA is my favorite album of theirs.

i wonder if any sane person in the world thinks that this is the best dredg album
Nope because the sole fact of them preferring this to dredg's other stuff would make them insane

surely the time has come to admit that, whichever dredg album you hold aloft as their crowning achievement, and whatever trajectory you think they have followed during their time as a band, there's just a chance it's never been building to anything at all.
bull***p. Did they ever say "this is where we're headed"? They said "this is an experiment". A horrible one, I agree, yet "Chuckles.." it's what it is: an experiment.
