The first disc blew my mind but the second disc...not so much.

they're together because if the album completewly ended on white oak doors, it woulda been wahwahwah anti-climax...instead, they don't leave you wanting more because they give you some more, just something completely unexpected...
PS, can those of you saying that the lyrics are terrible please give examples...i don't see it...i'm guessing you're not readers...

"it becomes apparent rather quickly that, despite his best efforts, he is neither Rocky Votolato or Conor Oberst."

Their lyrics throughout each record are a cross between third-rate misery-porn and bland soap opera. The rhetoric is tired and cliched and the ideas the band try to express are infantile in their simplicity.

@will
Could you give an example of a well-written lyric? "Lost Ground" actually had some clever lyrics in parts, but this sounds like its being read from a book.

I've caught a few easily discernible lyrics here and there and they all seem like half-assed La Dispute rewrites (and since La Dispute lyrics can often sound incredibly cheesy at times...this isn't a good thing)

Got my pre-order on Friday and I must say I can't see myself liking this more than Travels. Still a hugely enjoyable album, tho.

Travels is better. Although my opinion is very biased as Travels probably falls in my top 5 favourite albums ever.

ahh come on potato. this is pretty awesome, the whole feel of the album and the vocals and everything ohemgeererhsaekfhaw its awesome but i think youre right on that the second disc should've been released afterwards as an ep. i dont think the second dics is bad i just dont think it fits with the first disc.

i feel like the acoustic songs would have worked as a side project or an EP, but as you can see from my rating i'm quite content with their placement on the record.

Pretty much how I feel. The album didn't need these tracks, but I'm not going to complain about getting them now instead of having to buy an extra EP down the line, and considering how much I like them, it doesn't affect my rating at all.

come on ec, don't let them sway you...I'd recommend (though you're prob past this point) to start with lost ground, then travels then this...lost grounds a better intro b/c its fantastic, but nowhere near travels/this
