What do you mean by "distinctive vocals of Buddy Nielsen"? As I don't know this band that statement makes me feel a little out-of-the-loop. Would I like them? Other than that it's a good review Davey.

Well, once you hear them, you'll know why they're distinctive. I can't believe you haven't heard any of their big singles off of 'Sitll Searching' (Can't Be Saved & Calling All Cars).

Anyway, my guess is you wouldn't like them. Maybe go to their MySpace & listen to the title track off this album. You'll know if you want to listen tot he album if you hear that.

Listened to Calling All Cars and Can't Be Saved and liked them in a guilty pleasure kind of way. Then I listened to The Fire and it was average...

Now that's not what I told you to do... But yeah, that's fair enough. 'Still Searching' is a great album.

Nah sorry andcas. I've got the link though. I just can't see YouTube and MySpace for most of the time I'm on here.

Sonic, go to their MySpace & listen to the song 'The Fire'. You'll know after that.

I'm shocked people haven't heard this album yet,

and even more shocked that people haven't heard of Senses fail at all.

Fuck. This came out of nowhere. 3.5 after one listen, cleansing my palette with some Thrice, and then will listen again.

Ooh, it's unfair to compare Thrice with Senses Fail.

It *is* unfair, but hey, this album surprised me, it's so good. I expected terrible vox and mediocre instrumental, but wow, it's solid. Not a 4, but a solid 3.5. Great review btw Davey.

Thanks Daniel. And yeah, I agree with all your thoughts. I actually recall myself to'ing & fro'ing re: the rating too.

4 is too high, but too a lot of people they see this as a return to form; which it sorta is, but 3.5 is more accurate. Oh and 'The Fire' is boner soup.

It is a return to form, and even if it wasn't and was just some debut, this would still be a good album.

I'm not saying it isn't, but if this was just a debut, I don't think there would be as many 4 and higher ratings.

It can work the other way in fact LG. Many around here over-rate debuts just because "the band is young & new, blah blah blah".

Sometimes I wish we could give even more intermediate ratings. This is growing on me, I'm at like 3.7 now. It's just so catchy, and... good. Hell, I'll listen to this again tomorrow and might bump up to a 4.
