"check the "emo lite" list Boney. I would call all those albums entry level but that's far from a negative thing since they all are amazing"

agreed (well it's not all amazing but it's a good example of entry level being seen as a positive thing)

"Idk I feel like accessible is a better term than entry level in those cases"

i think entry level covers more than just "accessible", but yeah it's often practically the same

Lucid you state it's not a crticism and literally go right on to explain how it's a criticism.

Liking "generic" albums doesn't mean you don't have a personality and it's insanely pretentious to say anything other wise.

I keep seeing this pop up, and boy, I will never not love "Looks Just like the Sun." What a beautiful, chilled-out track.

when an indie fan shares a top 10 list and it's you forgot it in people, (), doolittle, the glow pt.2, boxer, loveless, slanted & enchanted, foxtrot, funeral and that interpol album all i'm thinking is "this doesn't tell me anything about you as a person." i like getting to know people through their taste is all, that's what i meant earlier minus the snark

I mean I don't see how one's top 10 albums tel you that much about who someone is as a person, you don't have to like obscure stuff to have your own taste and even if you do explore more beyond just the generic stuff you're still bound to continue to love the stuff that got you into music in the first place. Most of my top albums are still relatively generic picks but (not to sound too self-righteous) I'd say I have a pretty defined taste.

Either way I feel like it's a fallacy to assume that it's important to have an "identity" as a music listener - good music to you is good music, and it doesn't really matter all that much what that good music is.
