All that matters is whether or not I like you ;)

This is good but not Jimmy good. They don't have that something that I can't pinpoint.

Lyrics's aren't up to par with Jimmy's, vocalist is slightly weaker, hooks are about equal though

Yeah I agree that I think it's that he doesn't touch Jim Adkins

not as much variety as jimmy eat world. bleed american has rock (bleed american, get it faster), pop rock (the middle, if you don't dont, the authority song), rock anthem (sweetness), slow song (hear you me, cautioners, my sundown). this album is basically alt/pop rock all the way through. every song has the same atmosphere and direction. don't get me wrong, its awesome, but nowhere near as varied as jew.

^ Also very true and maybe that is it. "Make Believe" is my favorite thus far.

All good points. I think you have to take into account that this album saw the band change their sound a fair bit, so to deliver something so good while they were still finding their sound was more than anyone could expect.

I agree with Davey. Bleed American didn't click with me like this one did. The title track was excellent but the lyrics barely made any sense (especially when put in the context of the later songs along with it). I found the vocals to be somewhat even, to me this was catchier. The only songs I continuously listen to from Bleed American are the title track and the Middle.
This band's new stuff is almost as good as this one. *cough* *cough*

Woh horsey... I was defending The Graduate, not putting down JEW. Sorry, but I still think 'Bleed American' is better than this.

Bleed American, Futures, and Clarity are all better than this. This is on par with Invented or Chase This Light

I was trying to be mean, I still gave Bleed American a 4/5. :
I have yet to check the rest of their discography. I do love the title track of that album, though. I wish there were more songs like it there.

still isn't clicking yet. seeing the JEW influence, but agree that this is worse than bleed american, futures, and clarity. futures poops all over this record

I prefer the catchiness of this over the darkness of Futures.
Finally listened to The Sun and The Sea... Good, but not outstanding. Gonna finally listen to The Graduate's B-Sides EP & that other new EP they had over the weekend.

on Every Other Time, the only good songs are "Into the Blue" and "Set Me in Motion". Sea Legs is pretty interesting and experimental.

Woah, I really liked 'Sea Legs' on 1st listen, even if it has a few interlude type tracks.
|
| |
borders on a post-rock EP.
|
| |
also, the song "sea legs" is fucking awesome. i can't believe they never released it properly

They were about to break up, that's probably why.
The Sun and the Sea vocal-less Demo EP was very interesting.

It would be interesting to know if 'Sea Legs' was always gonna be an EP or they were going to try & work on the dynaics to make it their next LP.
