Damn, outside of those two songs, Time Skiffs is pretty forgettable. I feel like they could make classic after classic if they just tightened their songcraft rather than trying to turn literally everything into a psychedelic trip.

Don't get me wrong, Prester John and Strung With Everything are both going on my 2022 playlist, but yeah one full listen didn't yield much else that excited me.

"prester john" is good but its melody and construction feel like a bit lazy or perfunctory
"strung with everything" I loved on first listen and less on subsequent but it's better (so very good)

Tracks 3 & 4 keep me coming back, and with each repetition I end up liking a new song (I now dig Walker and Cherokee). I think the album is definitely trending up for me.

Cherokee was maybe my fave on first go. Also loved the closer.

haha honestly i dont get why people act like this band fell off a cliff. yeah "painting with" sucked, but "meeting of the waters" and especially "bridge to quiet" were both great EPs

Yeah and the recent Avey albums have been good too.

I'm not a "real" fan of this band or whatever. I love Feels, Prospect Hummer, and Fall Be Kind. Even MPP is just nice but nothing more to me.

PAINTING WITH wasn't great, sure, but it also wasn't bad, per se, just very uneven. It had some great jams on in; namely, "Floridada", "Spilling Guts", "On Delay", and "Golden Gal".

huh, interesting. I find painting with to be so take-it-or-leave-it: feels like a very uhhh "cohesive vision". "the burglars" is somehow almost my most played song ever
