I like the way the track before leads into "Love?".

I don't really like the lyrics to songs like Love honestly. All songs that first bash on love to finally conclude that it is after all the best thing ever. Like Twisted Sister's "Love is for suckers". Lol

I think that's the point. He realizes he has been suckered.

Production-wise one of the best albums too.

DON'T TELL ME SHIT
DON'T YOU TELL ME FUCKING SHIIIIIT
Im not a massive fan of the production on this. Guitars are mixed way too low and drums too high, plus much prefer the unrestrained ferocity of city production over this compressed sound. Shitstorm would have sounded even heavier on city

its funny cos city is more compressed than this
kick drums are ridiculously loud on this tho yea but it crushes

Both have their pros and cons.
Kick drums on here distract at times but overall the production is too damn meaty to deny m/
City feels pretty thin at some points, especially the beginning of All Hail the New Flesh all the sounds mesh together into a pretty annoying wall of noise.
Songwriting on City is pretty much flawless tho so can't complain.

i dno that wall of noise is pretty much needed for the transition into the perfection of that held scream
one of the best moments in metal ever

Swear this is more compressed? I'm no production expert but aren't parts like the intro of shitstorm (that massive bass swell or whatever it is right before the kick drums come in) super compressed?
City just sounds more 'free' to me and thus heavier.
But pleb how can you not like the wall of sound?!! Sounds so sick

nah, its def compressed but not to the extend of city

I don't really understand that link lol. So it seems my idea of compression is completely wrong then. How would you define it and how can you identify it in music?

Also ghost has bad ratings on that website, but is amazingly produced. Is there no correlation between production quality and those ratings?

basically the lower the number the more compressed it is, the higher the number the more it rules. most modern metal is compressed as fuck and it ruins everything but for bands like strapping and devin it doesnt bother me so much as it kinda goes with the wall of sound cept accelerated evolution that shit its just too damn loud.
read this bro https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression
