yeah, apparently colors isn't conceptual enough

definitely have intentions of checking this out
the review reads great and i love some of the points that you make, especially about their wacky parts in colors and whatnot
but it honestly doesnt sound like (at least through the review itself) that you regard this as a 4. It reads as if you hold it in a much lower rating than the one you actually gave it.
And I dont think i've seen a review that you have done with this much cursing in it. Kinda took me outta reading it for a bit.
But thats just my two cents. Still a great review for what im sure is a stellar album.

Listening to this today, the funniest thing about this album is that the best 'song' on here is "Mirrors".
|
| |
^agreed, Desert of Song is my 2nd pick....kinda sad

this is now my favorite BTBAM album, but i also said that to every one of their other albums too. I personally love Swim to the Moon, but think that they could have split it into more than one song in a part 1, part 2 style.

Just saw them perform this whole album live on halloween...Trust me, you guys will like the album A LOT more if you hear it live,
especially desert of song and swim to the moon, which are both incredible live.
Plus glass casket played the show as well, so that was pretty amazing too

I'm just not a fan of the way this turned out. After a few listens of Colors I was ready to accept that album format. But I wasn't a fan of how long it took to get to a slower, sung segment in each song. That's not to say I don't want to hear screaming, but it starts to all sound the same after a while. And then, out of nowhere, BAM, a beautifully-sung melodic part. Looks like they continued this in The Great Misdirect as well. When the album shines, it REALLY shines. But all the rest is a homogeneous blur of NOISE. Well-made noise, I'll grant them that, but I really think they'd prosper if the harsh vocals had more range....were sung alongside matched music....were more MELODIC...something.
On a good note, I saw these guys live in mid September and they were absolutely phenomenal.

2009 has been too good when you have to ask yourself if a 4 album belongs in your top 20 or not.
