Unseasonably warm here as well. Still jammed this but will definitely jam again once it gets colder.

It's like, The Mantle cold. You can still go for a pleasant hike to The Lodge and play guitar around a campfire.
|
| |
Only on my second spin of this but wow I love it.
|
| |
Might have to 5 this, listened every day since the first spin and has only gotten better.

Yeah I agree, you might like Das Tor as well, so check it. Well, you might as well discog this.
|
| |
Listened to this the most, then two spins of Kerker which is cool but less often what I am drawn to. As well as most of Nacht. Will check all of em this month for sure, just hooked here at the moment.

Yeah this is their best. I really like Das Tor, S/T and Nacht myself.
|
| |
Yeah definitely want to check all of em after this, so impressed. I really enjoy Darkspace but to me this is the perfect classic, cold BM atmosphere that I love instead of the space element. Not that that's bad but I like this better.

I love both, but they're pretty different, especially Darkspace's last album. Paysage has that cold atmosphere like you described, Darkspace just makes me feel like I'm flying through space.
|
| |
Definitely. I just prefer this atmosphere but both have great riffs and music generally.
Any recs for stuff similar to this?

I'm quite new to atmospheric black metal like this, so I don't have any right now.

"I'm quite new to atmospheric black metal like this"
Just in time for winter~
Gris, Coldworld, and Aquilus are holding down the fort for me at the moment. And Nattens Madrigal, but that's another story. Or folk tale, whatever they called it.

Well, I know Paysage for like a year, but I've never checked any other bands out.

Good, because this isn't poorly produced :P It's unclearly produced, but the levels, panning, and dynamics are perfect.

now if only the s/t sounded as good as this. (I really hate the way that album sounds.)
|
| |
Had to change to a 5, this is classic. Probably my favorite atmospheric bm
|
| |
The acoustic guitar sounds perfect as well, especially in the howling wind.
