I went to a shitty new years day gathering, and as per usual my ipod was playing, spittin the realness 90's style. We went through the usual suspects, Big L, Lord Finesse, Big Pun, Masta Ace, Diamond D, Biggie, Onyx, etc etc, then came Nas' "life's a bitch". Immediately following the song i changed it to Cryptopsy's "slit your guts", you know similar themes n all.

i know what you mean, but opinions is opinions yanomsayin? I have never liked Jay's lyrical style, and the way he has fallen from grace. Plus hasn't he once said himself that his fans are idiots?

Mhmm.
He dumbed down his raps to get that paper.
But I don't care man.
Always loves the cocky attitude.

^nothing wrong with the cocky attitude, but when his lyrics/skills could never fully back it up, imo, that's where I lose my patience.

Dude, he got that flow, he got them lyrics.
He may not use his lyrical prowess to it's full extent.
But that's just to make it more accessible and loved by everyone.
Ya dig?

I know guys, opinions is opinions, but listening to albums like "The Awakening" really shaped my view of hip-hop. That's why I took such a shining to Big L, Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, and eventually Nas.

@somberlain Expected to get a response like that, I seem to be an outsider when it comes to that opinion, but I'm probably the biggest Doom fanboy on this site
