Well I don't really like post-rock. I find the build-up, build-up, build-up, climax, post-coital formula boring. These guys are obviously amazing at it and I love their albums. But I find F#A# transcends what post-rock is and breaks the formula of it, so it is far more appealing to me, if that makes sense.

doesnt sound douchey to me, i think most people agree post-rock can be pretty formulaic, and i also think most people agree, whether or not they like post rock that GY!BE transcends it pretty well. you ever check out crippled black phoenix? not to rec you post-rock right after you claim to not like the genre but that kind of goes for atmosphere>buildups like this does. i dont expect you to check it out i was just curious.

hmm, from wiki "Crippled Black Phoenix is a collective of musicians from many other bands (including notably Iron Monkey, Gonga, Mogwai, Electric Wizard and others)." i didnt know that lol. But yeah theres still buildups and stuff dont get me wrong but i think its much more focused on things in between that keep it interesting instead of just everything building towards the next climax rinse repeat. but yeah check it out if you think youll like it nbd either way though.

but yeah i mean i get 3 being a not so good rating because it is technically the middle rating and we'd like our albums to be above average, but some people think even 3.5 is a bad rating. but TKoL really isn't very good IMO in comparison to their catalog, but on its own its good. Been digging the fuck out of in rainbows lately though.

ya likely. Anything that is creative and original seems to be looked down upon in academics. I have just written 4 1500 word essay's in a 5 paragraph structure format in the past 2 weeks so fuck that I am going to have fun.
