i think rowan's point was that pace and rhythm don't necessarily make something upbeat if there's a downtrodden/morose/[antonym of uplifting] mood at play
to which end i'd agree that Low is p much a case study

Personally, I prefer Low. It's more bold and original. But both are amazing works, some of his best.
