I love Deftones shirts, the animal theme is cool and makes them different than all the bands that just put skulls on black tees and call it a day.
of course, I have one of the Deftones shirts with the s/t cover on it, so I've got one with a skull lol

I want a white shirt with a big pony outline like the re-release album cover. Or a Diamond Eyes one with a giant fucking owl on the front.

I think my main problem with SNW is a lack of thematic direction. Every other Deftones album has a running theme either through the music or lyrics, and there's generally a consistent aesthetic motif as well.
But I just can't figure out the idea behind Saturday Night Wrist. like, what were they going for? I mean, there are a lot of great individual songs, but it doesn't flow as well as their other releases and there doesn't seem to be an underlying idea or connecting element to it.
I figured there's probably no better user to ask for an interpretation on that than you Mr. Lewis.

The only one I can think of is that it was recorded in a bunch of different places so the process of writing songs varied from place to place.

but what does that have to do with a "saturday night wrist"? and the girl on the cover? and the lyrical content?
was it actually recorded in various locations Count? I legitimately don't know, that's why I'm asking btw

I am going to die after I post this... but oh well
I believe that overall, DE has the best flow of any deftones album before it. On the other hand, the emotion evoked in SnW is so much greater, in my opinion, than any other album they have. Maybe the lack of direction, is in itself, the theme of the album. It certainly could be interpreted that way, even if it isn't true. The random aesthetic, in my opinion once again, adds to the album's overall feel. Giving the listener a feel of being lost in one's thought and emotions.
But that is just me.

well, I guess that's about as good as I could've hoped for -- I can definitely see what you're talking about. but what makes this album emotional for you? I guess that's my question. I think the songs are great, but lyrically it's not as striking as other Deftones albums to me, and I still don't understand what the title even means.
but I do get a "shoegazey" vibe that plays into being lost in your own thoughts and emotions, for sure.

The cover, I couldn't tell you. But the name could refer to Chino's addiction problems, because SNW is a legend about a dude who passed out on his arm, and woke up and his arm was dead because the blood flow was cut off. And yes, it was recorded in like 5 different places, all in Cali, though.

Maybe it is just personal, if it is then so be it. I believe that he sounds like he his filled to the brim of emotions when he is singing. Whether it be "Beware", "Xerces", or just being freaking frustrated in "Combat". I don't know, I probably am alone on this, but just everything about this album clicks with me, at least on a personal level.
