If you like this one you should listen to Santana III. It's on a different level.

yeah i need to listen to his first 3 albums. Which one of these records do you recommend? Santana III, Abraxas, or the s/t? Abraxas is my father's favourite album by Santana :P

For me it goes, Santana III>Abraxas>Santana but honestly all are awesome. I just prefer III by a slight margin compared to Abraxas.

Haven't heard this in full. Also, I need to give proper jamming to early Santana.
The man has a long as fuck discog. He came to Puerto Rico recently, but I missed it. Shame.

Oh man, wait until you listen to his latest album which is devoid of character. Even though you might like it seeing as you love Supernatural.

Yeah, the new one is pretty average (even tho it has a couple of excellent songs) but this one is up there with his best imo, (Da le) Yaleo, Corazon Espinado, Put your Lights On, Smooth, all of them are classics

Yaleo is srsly the best thing ever

Your review and individual ratings are a joke. The fact that the average of this album is higher than both Welcome (3.4) and Borboletta (3.2) is insulting. But I see how it is... Typical sputnikmusic posers in action... Never listen to an entire discography of an artist and copy ratings of other people acting like you know something.
Santana's 'Supernatural' is very inconsistent. It's over an hour long with plenty of pop filler. Let us take a look at the first 5 songs...
(Da Le) Yaleo is in the vein of old Santana, but it's no 5 star. The song is more radio friendly and the percussion isn't as good as the classic era. Some fun guitar leads and a cool piano solo with average vocals on top. Decent opener, but Santana has wrote much better, even in the 80s.
'Love Of My Life' and 'Put your Lights On' have good guitar - good, not great, though the distortion and wah pedal on the later is awful. The vocals are the downfall of both these songs. Dave Matthews is atrocious and Everlast is just as bad.
Africa Bamba is a pretty tame number. At least the vocals here, performed by Carlos himself, are solid.
Smooth is the song that 'revitalized' Santana's career. It's a catchy pop song with memorable lyrics and a great guitar solo. Smooth is clearly the highlight of the album.
The last 8 songs are a mixed bag. Maria Maria is just terrible... I have no idea how this won a grammy, even for a pop song. Then again, the grammy awards are a joke. 'Southside, worldwide.' What the fuck is this? Corazon Espinado is one of the better songs off the album, though it's more pop than latin-rock. Santana has a 30 second solo on Do You Like The Way and the bad vocals take up the rest of the track while he noodles in the background. The last track with Clapton is way too long and boring.
Basically the review should read like this - "The tracks with guest vocals (excluding Smooth and Corazon), are awful. The rest ranges from average-good, but they don't touch anything from the 60s-70s era. Supernatural is an attempt to win a new young market."
Very uninspired music with too many guests and Carlos sounding like a stranger on his own album.
If you want to listen to some great Santana check out the underrated 'Welcome' from 1973.

Don't know if it's Santana at his best but it's certainly one of my favorites on here along with Africa Mamba, Do You Like The Way, Smooth and Corazon Espinado.

If it wasn't for El Farol and Primavera, I'd easily 5 this. I think it is his most consistent album, even if the high points are way better in Abraxas and III
