Does an album deserve a good rating just because of a good song (The Funeral) ? for me it does, just that simple, only for this and maybe i apply this rule one more time

Finally listening to this, I've loved "The Funeral" for awhile now. This rules.

I guess you have to have a certain acquired appreciation for this kind of rock. Not enough vocal range or chord progressions; it all seems repetitive. If they changed their pace and style like in Our Swords every couple songs this would be a way better album. I could listen to one song but any more is just redundant listening, they are all almost the same songs.

And I respect that. I was just never into this kind of music but decided to try it out considering my uncle is offering me a ticket to see them in L.A.
After more listening I found a lot of great moments in all three CDs, but I still feel like they need to mix it up even more between each song. Not too much, but it would help.

Greaty review! But completely disgree with what you said about The First Song, it's one of my personal favourites along with The Funeral and The Great Salt Lake here. What it does well, is send you into a dreamy state, and the chorus riff never fails to give me chills, it's a really good set up for the album in my opinion, and a much better opening track than Is There A Ghost and Factory.

Love this album. The first song is such a beautiful opener. It brings a sense of desperation and brightness. Great album with lots of replay value.

I originally thought I liked it... but at some point I realized that they really WANTED to be emotional... but just weren't. They seemed like they stole their sound from about 50 other bands of the same genre.

Except for Our Swords, I quite enjoyed this album. Not sure if this is more of a 3 though... there's nothing memorable except Funeral (which might only be memorable because I already knew the song). I dunno, good but doesn't stand out from the genre much at all.
