It's not as bad as saying Simple Plan is better than Opeth
Dear god, did someone actually say that?

In example
I'd rather go to church than listen to simple plan

Atheist...oh, I understand now...
You scared me with that example. All this talk is making me want to check out Converge, who I've obviously never heard.

Jane Doe(or even You Fail Me) can pwn more than half of everything new that comes out in the metalcore scene these days.
I don't know, but I can't get into AILD. I couldn't distinguish their sound from a lot of other bands, based on what I've heard on their purevolume page.

Check them out now. They're somewhat of an acquired taste for some, so if you don't like them at first, don't give up. I was like that and now they're one of my favorite bands.

AILD are generic stuff that probably won't be remembered a few years from now. Converge completely have their own thing going on, continue to change with every amazing album after amazing album, and have had an immeasurable impact on the scene. Even if you simply don't like Converge, saying AILD is better is just beyond me.

It's been a while since I've listened to AILD...they're extremely boring now. It didn't last long.
I've heard Converge was great but never bothered...but I'll give them a chance.

After a few listens 94 Hours is quite an alright song, but if that's the best then there's no way I will buy this.
Can someone explain to me what triggers are? In the D&P forum they always talk about them but I never bothered to ask.
I do think he can do that naturally though. I mean there's this insane guy who can do 1400+ bass drum hits in one minute. :amaze:

I'm not a drummer so I don't know for sure, but I have a good friend who is a drummer.
I think where a standard double pedal is the equivalent of an acoustic guitar, the triggered ones are like the electric. They require much less effort and once you put some pressure on it it automatically hits the drum with a set amount of force, making it much easier to double bass faster. But again, I'm not sure, so a real drummer should help me out.

AILD is great. Great guitars, nice raspy singer, and an insane drummer. At first listen the songs do sound a lot alike, but when you start really listening to them they for the most part are really good. I disagree with the review, I think Behind Me Lies... is a good song. It throws in a different sound to the album. The lyrics are also very good. The best tracks on the album are 94 Hours, Forever, Distance Is Darkness, and Elegy. Oh and I don't think the drummer's using triggers.
This Converge sounds pretty good, maybe I'll check them out...

I like AILD and enjoy most of their music. Yes, the metalcore thing has been done a million times before and a lot of it sucks, but AILD is one of the bands that I like.
And I like Converge as well. They were really good live.
Unearth is good as well. They were also great live.

I would just like to say that you can be of the opinion that AILD is better than Converge, but you are a fag if you have that opinion, because it is wrong.
Thank you.

The songs are extremely reptitive. They had potential but wasted it. Everything after track six all sounded the same. 94 Hours was good, there were a few other good ones, but beyond that it was some of the most repetitive music I had ever heard. It was fun while it lasted but these guys are extremely overrated.
And until someone can prove with solid fact that I'm wrong, I'm still quite sure he uses triggers.

yea there are plenty better metalcore bands out there...as i lay dying is overrated but there not bad...check out Between The Buried and Me most amazing metalcore band i ever heard they mix alota genres though so dont bitch at me if you think there not metalcore

|

I don't see how their religious beliefs effects anything in this review.
But then again, I seem to be the only one who doesn't consider Christian to be part of a genre. And these guys guys aren't even metal.
