Ghost Reveries, Deliverence and Blackwater Park are the best Opeth cd's. Best band on the planet. No other band even comes close to these guys! Moderate review for an exceptional piece of music. You just don't need to repeat alot of one liners like 'arguably the best' and so on....! This Message Edited On 10.12.06

Very good review, I like the bit on the tbt with the track highlight (jacked!).
I like opeth, sort of I guess.

Probably my favorite CD by my favorite band. BWP is my second favorite, ahh I love that acoustic part in Bleak it's awesome.
OK review, but I personally think The grand conjuration is one of the worst tracks on the album. That track doesn't really do it for me. But the 3 that really stand out here are ghost of perdition, reverie/harlequin forest and baying of the hounds.
My favorite part about this album is probably the ending on Ghost of Perdition or the breakdown part in baying of the hounds. In the other albums they don't really do the breakdowns like in baying of the hounds and ghost of perdition.. those are some of my favorite parts. This Message Edited On 10.12.06

I love about 5 minutes in (i think) to the first track. The really evil sounding chords...*drool. This is, imo, the best band on earth.
I am not as satisfied with Opeth as I thought I would be after reading all the hype on this site.
You really need to give it time. When I first checked Opeth out many years ago I felt the exact same way. It sounded like boring progressive to me, only more extreme than your average prog bands. However, over the years I gradually began to notice the countless subtleties and characteristics that make Opeth so unique and so enjoyable. Don't give up and they'll soak in over time.

I liked Opeth from the first time i heard them, which was off the Roadrunnerrecords.com place, and the song was Ghost of Perdition. Good song to start off with if you ask me. Exiting, and progessive. A little bit of everything from Opeth. Anyways, don't give up on Opeth, you'll regret it. Theres litterally tons of talent in their music.

Blackwater Park is the only Opeth album I own, and it's possibly my favorite album now, and I just got oit a few days ago. I plan on getting this and Still Life next.
