I really liked your review. Especially what you said about Follow and Feel.

Voices and Follow and Feel are superb songs. After hearing I Can Tell (not on the CD) and Sleepers, I was really excited about the new CD.

However, I started listening to a lot of old Saosin and Circa Survive while waiting for this album, and a lot of Cove's lyrics are mediocre compared to Anthony's, it's a turn off. Come Close irritates me to no end.

Maybe another 600 more listens and I'll dig this album though.

Great reveiw. I have to agree with you on the cons of this album and id have to say that the vocals arent the greatest in my opinion, but are growing on me.

So true: Quote "Follow and Feel starts off with a nice little guitar riff that will reminds you of the old days for old fans of Saosin."

Fav song: follow and feel.

I disagree with the reviewer substantially. This release is pop punk to a T, and it is nothing like Translating the Name. That said, the review is so-so... I don't really like song-by-song analysis as it makes for a very long winded review.

Not to say that I enjoyed the old lineup that much more, but this lineup and this recording both combined make for one really mediocre performance.

The musicianship on Circa Survive's Juturna blows this as well as Translating the Name out of the water.

Of course, if you like pop punk, have at it.This Message Edited On 10.15.06

Cove's lyrics are all the same...he talks about how we didn't see this, or we didn't know that...he finally put some emotion into his voice which helps a lot, but when I feel a scream coming on, and it doesn't come...it's just a let down. Good album, different sound (even though they recycle old songs)...i dunno...gimme back seven years...

Not as good as the superb Translating The Name EP, but also a great listen, very catchy and melodic, with nice guitar work and a decent voice, but with Green Saosin played one league higher.

No matter how often i listen to them, they seem nothing more than very average.

You gave Brand New a 2.5 and Saosin 4?

Come on, The Devil and God is an infinatly better album than this.

I am an old saosin fan, and after I got sucked into 'Seven Years', this album just depresses me. Basically, they just need more intence riffs with more distorsion. Cove is a good singer, and I too can see why he was chosen, but GAAAA! The screaming was both the best part of the band, and the catchiest.

after three or so listens, my opinion of this is that it's, as Iluvatar said, quite average. It seems like they repeat the chorus of every song over and over (and over) in hopes that it'll stick in your mind.

I've NEVER listened to Saosin until I saw a video for "bury your head" on a Taste of Chaos mix the other day and I was in a trance throughout, but mainly with the drummer. I'm beyond intrigued but don't want to be disappointed. What to buy, what to buy...

If you want to get into Saosin, I would probably start here. This is who they are now, so you'd be doing yourself a favor to fall in love with this than going out and buying their older stuff and being thoroughly disappointed.

That being said, if you still don't like this, pick up their old stuff.
