thanks guys. yeah i felt a 2 was sufficient. I seldom rate lower then "Poor". that says enough. you'd have to put out some real awful trash to rate lower on my scale. in some ways this album rates higher. it has fine production values, the playing is clean, etc. i don't see in the review where I said what you quoted me as saying? the "by far" part. but i'll check it again. and while i did consider a 2.5 rating for a few positives, in the end they were too little to overcome the whole. and too insignificant. so i gave it a 2. I've always given NFG a miss, and it seems that won't change with this record.
Great review though. :thumb:

PLEASE don't tell me everyone is buying into this review! As long as you don't go into this album with a mind set that it's going to be pop punk like the rest of their stuff you will not be upset. It is still New Found Glory simply in a slightly slower melodic album.
His voice is much less whiny in this album and it fits for the slightly more serious songs. I disagree stongly with the review on the subject of maturity. I do not find lyrics such as "You smell like, how angels outta smell." Is nobody here in love or ever been in love? These are all cheesy and outlandish phrases that I can relate too. Are you telling me that you couldn't get used to waking up to the green of your love's eyes!? Come on...you're being rediculous by denying this. It may not be the most masculine topic but thats not really the most important thing in my life.
In conclusion I find all your problems with the album simply that you're lacking the perspective of being in love. I am currently going to college far from my girlfriend of 4 years and I can tell you as a New Found Glory fan that this album really hits the spot. Do not write this album off based on this poor review. I urge you to give it a listen

its really sad that these guys grew up just a few streets down from me. I would have hoped that Coral Springs could have turned out some better new musicians
|
| |
I'm not saying you wouldn't enjoy it if you haven't fallen in love. I'm saying you just need to tune into that perspective. People are rejecting this album because of presuppositions. I own all of their albums and this is not bad by any means.
I will agree that not every song is amazing like some of their other albums, however it is far from trash.

you didn't have to neg my review just because you disagree with it. its not polite. the question isn't whether or not you liked it, its was it well written. which it obviously is. even by low standards. secondy i don't have to give this a fanboy rating or reivew. i know this band well enough. and i see what they have done. if they had done a good job at it i'd of said so. but they are playing all sides here and coming up short on a whole. i also stated in the reivew that the lyrics are dumb and contrived in many places but its nothing new in "all of rock music". but it needs good music and songs to support it. its not what you say often times with music, its how you say it. and this album says it poorly.
and your "in love " thing is silly. and yes i have the proper perspective. and just because i can relate to some of this albums lyrical sentments doesn't mean i'm going to let that affect my judgenment. "oh i like it because i'm in love and know how that feels. my girl smells like angels too". gimme a break...This Message Edited On 09.22.06

man this review was hilarious. And I'm glad I didn't decide to pick this up today.

I'm not sure what you mean...I'm really not trying to neg your review. I would agree that this album is not meant for everyone and if you're one of those people then so be it you're certainly entitled to your own tastes and preferences, but I think you missed a lot. Thats all. I just wanted to chime in and encourage people to go look a few other reviews such as

or

Again, not trying to say that you're review isn't good, just saying that I believe people need a more well-rounded look at this album. This Message Edited On 09.23.06

hey nobodyzero, its the reviewer on an alternative account. i use it because sometimes the site doesn't let me sign in under my primary. i don't know why. anyway, i actually agree with some of what the first review you linked says. mostly this part
"It's watered down melodic hardcore with a hint of pop punk, swirled up into saccharine-sweet love songs with melodramatic lyrics that seemed to be aimed at 14-year-old girls."
but i cant give NFG a break just because "its not for me" as that reviewer said. he pointed out a lot of negatives but simply decided it must not be for him. i won't do that. and while i do understand the album sounds good and the musicianship is good thats already a given, and i won't give points for it. this is simple music, not classical or metal. and the songs are thin and uninteresting for the most part. plus i thought i summed up the album well in the last paragraph. even saying the album is "exactly what its supposed to be" and is ready to be "packaged up for MTV" and sold on TRL. and in a post above i did say it had its positives and i almost gave it a 2.5 but in the end felt those positives couldn't overcome so many negatives. so thats me.
sounds like you like this album a lot. at sputnik we encourage users to write their own reviews. or you can write a mini one (sound off) it would be nice to hear your perspective. you can do a standard one like mine or a "track by track" (song by song). those are sometimes easier for the newer reviewer. if it sounds fun we'd be glad to have you. visit here in our forums to ask any questions you may have and get any guidance you may want or need:

Actually I belive this is quite an improvement over their past material. Even though Sticks And Stones and their ST are still fun to listen to, this is quite an advancement in my book.

LOL...catchy...there first C.D. might have been mistaken for being "catchy" for NFG fans. I can hardly see how ne 1 could make the mistake of this being "catchy"...even a fan.
Btw...101 comments! woot! I would have celebrated at my actual 100th comment but it wasn't a very good one...This Message Edited On 10.18.06

it's always the matter if you like that kind of music. If you're not into pop-punk bands you cannot comment this record!
