This CD is really good. I'm not positive on my rating yet, I may be after another few listens.

Never mind. I must've misread that. I thought there were two, but I can't remember now. My bad.

I'll be at the Palais concert, btw.

I don't like that he reused two songs, Gravity and Vultures, from the John Mayer Trio album. Other than that, great album.

It's allowed because the Trio album was a live album.

Well thought out. Good to see someone give The Mayer the credit he deserves.

You should post more in the CR thread DVG.

We miss you.

But seriously, good review man. I thought about reviewing this but I think 2 is enough for now. :P

I picked up this album yesterday and it's really great! He's exploring new sounds on songs like I Don't Trust Myself. Heart Of Life is probably my favourite track at the moment, its so catchy and it's actually got a pretty good set of lyrics. Now all I can wish for is the Counting Crows to tour with John Mayer again and...actually come nearby my city and I would be in for a night of pure orgasmic music.

Heart of Life is probably my least favorite track on the album.

One of them at least.

Calm down, no need to type in all caps. It doesn't show what you're digging because you haven't "dug anything" yet. You have to click the Dig It button first.

Just a thing about the review, at the start you say "Forget Dave Matthews... Forget Ben Harper".

I have to say, I've always thought that eve though he was around first, that Dave Matthews was a cheap version of John Mayer.

And about Ben Harper, did you know he is on Continuum?

He plays guitar (the slide parts, I'm assuming) in "Belief".

This album is a bit overrated. I definitely dug on Try a lot more, and although some of its influence is here, I would've been content with a blues/rock album more than a 70-30 mix of pop-blues. Some more groovin' kinda sh*t instead of the soft rock. Good album though.

Edit - 7/08 - Damn, I love this fucking record. It really is the best synthesis of Mayer's myriad of styles, and the best blues/pop record probably since Clapton's Journeyman. Took me a while but I see how good this record is now. This Message Edited On 07.19.08

Do you want to see this man play the guitar? I mean REALLY play? In 2002 he put out a DVD titled "Any Given Thursday" and why it has taken 4 years for people to give him the respect and credit he deserves is beyond me. Check out a sweet little tune called "Covered In Rain". This Mayer original should have been released years ago. That is why I am so thrilled that he produced this himself - he was able to show what he is truly made of as a songwriter, singer and now a producer. Don't think that brillance is gonna stay hidden -watch as other musicians turn to him a producer and have that added to the list of his talents. You cannot compare him to anyone but John Mayer because this guy has only put his big toe into the spotlight - wait and see what he does over the next several years. Ironic as he sings on Continuum:

" I'm so scared of getting older, I'm only good at being young ".

The fuse to his career has just been lit - he is gonna explode on the music industry in a big way. Not so bad for the son of educators who wanted him to be ANYTHING but a musican, huh ? Encourage your kids - you never know.

PS - there is NOTHING boring about CONTINUUM -NOTHING!!!

I dont really like this.

Sounds nothing like the old john mayer, which is what i liked.

Some songs sound like his older stuff but eh.

I guess John Mayer is trying to branch out to a new thing.
