@Walrus I checked out that link and I don't really know where he's coming from with some of those comments.
"Bass is amazing"... Seriously? It's probably the most bland the bass has sounded for a Haken release ever.

To me that Reddit post doesn't read like a review but like a promo text. There is no critical examination of the EP. I mean, that's fine I guess, but for me that text isn't worth very much

I agree, kalk--it seems more like a subtle promo from a person tangent to Haken. Weird.
I spun this again today and it's definitely not bad in any way. Lots of good stuff in here. It just doesn't hold up to their other releases, which not good for a band that sets the prog metal bar so high.

this is nowhere as bad as the rating. it's a new sound for the band sure, less technical, but at least it's fresh and better than that stupid animal record
also quite possibly ross' best performance on a record yet

I'll check it out later today. Haken but stripped back sounds nice to me tbh. Fauna didn't appeal much to except for Nightingale and Alphabet of Me and I am really craving the more melodic and stripped back stuff right now

Yea, pretty good. Better than Fauna, save for the two songs I mentioned

I'm sure you're not wrong, but it comes across less like a paid promo and more like a "I care about the dudes in this band, I once had a connection to them, I'm going to use what little clout I have to stop people from shitting on this next phase" sort of deal. Yeah it's not a full review but rather just a spattering of observations.
"Bleeding Sky" is fucking phenomenal.i really enjoy this whole project more than I expected to.

Glad I’m not the only one! I didn’t like the title track and delirium when released as singles but delirium def grew on me and bleeding sky is easily the best here

Yea, I won't argue with that. I didn't assume it's paid tbh, because I don't assume prog makes money tbh. The text calls itself a review and it isn't, that's all I care about. It contains nothing of interest to me.
Still a good EP, I will keep listening to it for a bit
