oh they absolutely deserved to be shat on the past couple decades. this feels like the first time since black holes where Matt realized “hey wait im actually talented and can make good music when i want to”

If anything he overestimated how talented he is and starting sniffing his owns farts thinking he was making oh so cutting edge and vital music. This is atleast less pretentious and a return to just making some solid vaguely sci-fi alt rock

I’m finally watching that Chernobyl series made by HBO.
Dude that shit is incredible. I’d consider that and the first season of True Detective the best limited series ever (each season of true detective is a limited series really).

absolutely no way this is good, but what the fuck, i'll have to listen to a muse record in 2026?

@Larkin yeah I’m really digging Chernobyl so far. It’s so ominous and eerie and it really captures the unseen and spooky, almost eldritch nature of radiation. True Detective is obviously cinematic and narrative perfection so I would never hold anything to that standard. It really is the best limited series OAT.
I did listen to like 3 tracks from this record and I didn’t LIKE them, but they have clearly crawled out of the excrement they were rooting around in for over a decade. Good for them I suppose

I agreed with the 3. This has 4-5 decent songs that don’t get entirely mired down by eccentric electronica or whatever and so everyone is heralding this as anywhere in the same league as BH&R, and it’s not. A .5 batting average does not merit superlative ratings like 4.5

This is pretty sick. Opener was pretty mind blowing, especially after hearing their recent output
