I was definitely mildly disappointed by the spacing and relative lack of beats during the opening gambit(s) initially, but the ambient parts get to you eventually. Slow burner with some interesting variety. I prefer it to Tomorrow's Harvest already and am considering putting it ahead of or at least alongside Campfire. It's tough making comparisons to albums you've been listening to for many years.
MHTRTC / Geo obviously untouchable.

I feel like this is 'Geogaddi' walking around the soundtrack'y 'Tomorrow's Harvest' and you get a beautiful baby from that combo.
Even though it's somewhat of a throwback it's not like I don't hear they made 'Tomorrow's Harvest' before this.

Geodaddi has higher highs but this is more consistent. Honestly might be my favorite BOC album

I can't take it over MHTRTC or Geogaddi, those albums are absolutely flawless imo, but this isn't far behind at all. Just jammed again.

Never got the hype about Music Has the Right to Children. To me it might probably be their weakest album.

Geogaddi>Inferno>Music Has the Right=Tomorrow's Harvest>Campfire Headphase
This has grown on me immensely, TH didn't have much staying power I think I only revisited it a couple times since 2013, I can already see myself jamming this year's from now. And thank god because who knows when we'll get another record.

“May I ask what the hell mallcore is?”
Another redundant made-up rym subgenre

Isn’t every genre made up at some point by music nerds?
|
| |
Album Rating: 3.5
Yeah well then there’s new generations of nerds rediscovering genres and pointlessly renaming them out of laziness and or having some personal investment in this music none of us had a hand in creating

You Retreat In Time and Space might be the best song they've ever written. Full body chills from that one.
Honestly, after a couple listens I don't really think of this as the spiritual successor to Geogaddi. Definitely has its unsettling and borderline evil moments, but this record ended up being a lot more hopeful and optimistic than I thought it would be. At least it ended on an uplifting note, which I love. Front to back this is Mike and Marcus at their most focused and this record has everything a BoC fan could possibly want. Hard 5 tbh.
