I think this reminds me a little of Ben Howard's Noonday Dream. Very dreamlike and retro, but still its own thing. It grows with every spin, too.

Don’t Change a Thing, Boilermaker, On My Own and No Place to Be are all near perfect.

Rest is good, not too predictable esp with the instrumentals, quite a knotty listen for a relatively short album.

He’s sort of Mac DeMarco meets The Felice Brothers here.

I can definitely see that Sowing bro! Noonday Dream is so amazing. Have to get into more Ben Howard asap.

Feel like Conor Oberst would have sold a kidney for The Boilermaker back in 2005, so good.

Boilermaker and Don't Change a Thing have grown on me a ton even since I reviewed this the other day. Pretty much perfect, agreed there. Time Flies and I Was An Ocean are still stunning though and probably my personal favorites here.

I don't think there's a bad song on here, I wasn't sure with On My Own first listen but that grew on me since then.

I really welcome the instrumentals but so far they're not stand outs for me.

Suddenly is definitely the weaker of the two instrumentals but I still welcome the gaps in vocals. I Once Was An Ocean is actually one of my favorites here.

Album gets better with every spin Hawks :-)

Also checked 'Roll the Bones'...like a wet behind the ears version of this, enjoyable.

It's been incredibly long since I listened to it. So much so that I forget what it sounds like. Will have to revisit.

Just saw your song ratings too, and that's a very respectable take. I agree other than the fact that I'd have Time Flies and Ocean higher, and On My Own just a tad lower (but not too much).

Roll the Bones is a 10/10 song for me. I used to busk it when I was doing that and it was always fun, albeit a vastly simplified and non-fingerpicked version. Still play it pretty frequently when I jam out.
