What happened to focusing on fixing your broken marriage Dave?

Every album is one or two good tracks surrounded by filler. Their Greatest Hits album is pretty much all I use to listen to their early output, probably be the same if they released a new GH from their last 6 albums too.

Really not a fan of the album art... reminds me of something Green Day would apply

Foo annoys me to no end, I mean try to be at least consistent you fuckers

This. My god. I cant think of another band with such a high popularity:filler ratio

First two albums actually had some deep cuts that a Best Of would miss…Good Grief, New Way Home, etc.
Meanwhile the Best Of would no doubt include fluff like Big Me? So not sure a Best Of would actually serve too well on the first two albums.
By Nothing Left to Lose I do agree the pattern of ‘2-4 decent songs surrounded by filler’ has been established more or less.

Yeah, boring. Basically the debut, The color and the shape, there is nothing left to lose, wasting light and sonic highways (well, I like it) are all solid.
Every other album is full of dull blandness and filler + a couple good songs. Incredibly inconsistent band, who hasn’t put out a legit solid front to back album since sonic highways (…I like it…).
To be fair, I haven’t heard all of their last one, which I hear is better. But the songs I heard didn’t do that much for me (even the teacher was pretty good but nothing I went back to).

I'll probably skip most new FF until another compilation drops with all the best songs from the modern era included. A comprehensive Best Of with deeper cuts from the earlier albums as well would be good and basically the only release I would consistently listen to, much like how I only really listen to the 2009 Greatest Hits album.

i dunno why these guys are even releasing new music anymore.

Listening through now and so far it kinda just sits in that window between inoffensive to moderately interesting that most Foo Fighters occupies for me.

I can’t remember who but I saw some critic refer to this as “ chaotic”… I’m at the title track and this is just “Foo Fighters™️ Make a “Punk” Record”. None of this is chaotic is it

“What happened to focusing on fixing your broken marriage Dave?”
aw shit is there drama? Dave always seemed chill, if a little egotistical. But that’ll happen when you’re the most important member of one of the biggest rock bands of all time.
And I’ve always wondered… why the hell does this band have three guitarists?

Okay I spoke a little soon… back half is a whole lot better imo, Unconditional and Asking For A Friend are the best songs on the album, but the latter is so goddamn frustrating. With about a minute and a half left the track breaks into this jammier part and goes with that for a little while and it’s cool, then it just goes back to the chorus one more time… just fuckin do that for the rest of the track. It’s a solid song but it had potential to be an amazing song.
Being a Foo Fighters fan must be so awesome, your favorite band just has an endless well of content but man this record was so middling. The band will never put out anything truly horrible because they’ll never aspire to be anything more than different versions of alt rock that went out of style 15 years ago. It’d be cool if they actually took a swing, even if it’s a miss I appreciate someone going big and failing more than being on autopilot, which is what most of this feels like.

i think i am so above people that just think everything their fave band does is the best thing ever without any real critique but on the real, they are probably so much happier that way.

Dude for real.
Imagine being one of those guys but for like In Flames… ignorance is fucking bliss.
And shit, Metallica has plenty of fans like that. When I saw them I was so fucking shocked at the amount of people that knew every goddamn word to tracks off 72 Seasons. I listened to that album once and only once lol
