Oh 1000% start with the Acts.

Giving this a fresh listen after having been big disappointed on release day, and I'm actually more into it than I was at the same stage with Antimai. I've seen them live on their last couple of tours and felt that they went the way of mid-era portugal the man with too much shoegaze and self indulgent jamming, but this sounds more like the distillation of those jams into the cool ideas that can matriculate out of hours of noodling. This is actually a pos for me, and I'm a 'Act II tattoo' level fan (yes I saw them on tour for Act I with ATAL as the backing band, I've earned these shitty stripes)

The first act didn't really grab me all that much but II and III are quite good

I would agree that Act I is the weakest of the five, but I still come back to it every now and then.

Each one gets better and Acts IV and V are classics @mindle enjoy

Act II still holds a distinct and intimate place down my heart, even with me not growing up to their music.
I was disappointed with this upon first listen, but it started to unfold itself once I reached a mental state of not caring about this having to compete with the Acts.

In fact, The Glass Desert II Cliffs feels like a brainchild of The Bitter Suite 1.

Was listening to some of Act 4 and 5 earlier, insane albums and quality.

I know everything up and until migrant. I am so behind. Gotta start from the beginning again and work my way to act 4-5 and beyond. I heard those 2 recent acts are excellent

I'm a huge fan of Antimai, just not sure how I feel about this yet. The ingredients are there, sorta. Whole album is screaming out for some serious hooks in my opinion. There's nothing that really grabs me in.

It’s definitely growing on me, but it’s not perfect and doesn’t reach the heights of Antimai, much less Act III-V. Revisited IV and V yesterday and nothing of the Indigo Child-era stuff comes even within orbit of it.

I really like The Glass Desert I-III, and Sunya is a nice closing track. I'm intrigued about the story now and want to know more about how the narrative fits these tracks. Also, I'm excited to see what's next. Does there happen to be a graphic novel for the Indigo Child? I'm really clueless as to what the story even is. Other then there is a child that has something to do with Indigo lol

@tsunamijesus what the heck is wrong with mid-era Portugal. The Man? Or shoegaze? Or self-indulgent jamming? Lmao... also, wth is "pos"?

@elry2k - I wanna joke that it means "piece of shit" but in the context he said it, I'm assuming he meant "positive" as in he liked the album, lol.
"Pos" usually has that meaning on Sput.

Is Act VI out of the question? Whats the latest on that?
Would love to hear a new Receiving End of Sirens album...
|
| |
All I can find is I can find nothing, maybe it won't even happen...
...but it flew through my head that if it does happen, it might be stylistically closer to the current album series than to the existing Acts. That would be rich.

i heard somewhere years ago that act 6 would be a film. they did screen some film here in seattle last year too. probably related to this indigo child storyline though.

@JoyfulPlatypus Ah, thank you yes. I was thinking it meant "piece of shit" and was confused.
