I just wonder if this is because of the new vocalist, did he come in and they went this direction or where they going this direction and old vocalist was like "Nope"

I don’t think this record is nearly as cynical as you do man but nice review

In some cases, a new vocalist can single-handedly induce major style changes in a band with respect to prior albums, that can "make" or "break" how the band looks to its seasoned fans.
I'm aware of at least one more recent example that follows the pattern, a band (which I won't mention herein) whose current state, although solid, is nowhere near its past one, because I have done so elsewhere, discreetly.

great review!
I didn't think this band was good before, it was very generic, so I had to give this a chance, listened to a couple of songs and I find it to be better than before.
Might have to give this a full spin.

Just a gentle reminder that "I burn like fire" is not an alliteration. Are you trying to call it a simile?

Review is a fun read but I feel like you're taking offense to it in a way that feels a bit weird. You accuse the record of a lot of things that boil down to assumed intent on your end.
"whilst trying to parade around as if they're making some form of deep artistic statement"
"uses every cheap trick to try and sound far more profound than it is"
"The disparity between attempting to cover deep, serious subjects with absolutely no conviction"
This all just seems like your very personal read on it. You can't really claim any of this is actually true. It's an extremely cynical take on what could be a very genuine attempt from the band. It's fine if you don't like it. I don't care about the rating. I enjoy a good negative review. However, this specific angle of attack feels both personal and lacking in anything real to back it up.

Nah that interlude definitely fits the bill for the second quote. The poor music videos also help the first and third ones. You'd have no idea Hellbound was about some breakup or being manipulated by a lover or whatever when the music video is just him doing a stripper dance in front of a tree or a door. And there's a miniature star or something. These are all very rich in symbology and philosophers will wonder what they're about for decades to come.

Other supplementary evidence is they started as a Mglacore band and are now a trendycore band so they were always trend chasing and, as the summary says, this is the mask off moment.
