Heard a few tracks, sounding really nice. It's original how they are going for this zen indian theme. Especially 'The Moon Cave' and 'The Empty Dream Machine' are hitting good.

The 2D short-film cartoon they released for this by itself makes me glad this album exists. Beautifully animated.

halfway in and this is pretty excellent. a lot to parse with the narrative, the musical aesthetics, the tributes and features, the social commentary.... def their best in forever

I have listened to this probably a dozen full times since midnight Thursday and it just keeps getting better. IDLES song is a bit shit but otherwise I love everything about this

The year is 2005. We're at war in the Middle East. Everyone is going crazy playing Pokemon FireRed and LeafGreen. Gorillaz have just released a critically acclaimed album.

The year is 2026...

Same, Rowan. Also agreed about that IDLES track -- easily the weakest of the bunch. Album stumbles slightly with two of its final 3 tracks as well, but overall it's a great album that reveals more with each play.

The Happy Dictator is such a good and original track, no idea why most people shat on it in the news article

Casablanca is maybe a bit inessential but the two last tracks are phenomenal imo

The Manifesto is not that good. The first half is skippable. Second half is a lot better but as a whole eh song.

We put this on at the record store i work at and ngl it was all over the place and kind of awkward. Individual tracks can be enjoyable from time to time but as a whole, it flows like a theater kid with adhd prepping a musical for his family at christmas. Charming, but incoherent

This is at least better than any of the newer stuff post-plastic beach, don't know how much I actually enjoy it yet though

Love the whole thing but would agree that the first half is better.

Yeah, by a strong margin.

First album this year to truly hook me. It just keeps growing with each spin.

There's some buzz that they might be headliners in this year's Primavera Sound here in São Paulo. I'll definitely try to catch this tour.

I'll give it some love... Plastic Guru is one of the best 4 or 5 tracks on the album... a lot of fun, and very catchy
