"As someone who could never really get into Converge, I'm pleasantly surprised with this one. May have to check out more of their earlier work now."

I think that may be the main goal with this record. A very short and tightly produced Converge album, with not much layering as other records. Straight to the point for folks who couldn't get into past records. The band is like: "Here, this is us. If you want more there's plenty of shit we've done".

Good to have the classic Converge back, although if they decide to do Bloodmoon II at some point I wouldn't mind. The first one was interesting, if inconsistent

this doesn't have the highs of dusk in us but doesn't have any of the bloat either. pretty solid addition to their discog all things considered.

I'm always careful to not make knee-jerk reactions to new Converge, because a lot of it can sound kind of homogeneous at first glance. Rn at the end of track 6 and still waiting for something to really wow me, but who knows, might relisten and think the first half is stellar

That’s how I feel so far as well. Awesome riffs and tone, but no wow factor for me. Just a consistently good album

Make Me Forget You is the worst song on the album in my opinion, which is a shame because it has some of the best lyrics.
