^^Mustaine has arthritis, so I reckon it is what it is (I haven't listened to it yet)
In his prime, he was the best guitarist of his generation, both rhythm/lead wise.

Good review! Ride the Lightning is the main attraction seems like.

is it really a cover if dave wrote the song and metallica STOLE IT?
jk but he has a legit writing credit on the original, missed the first live performance by six months tho

writing one riff in a jam session 40 years ago = "the entire song is mine"

Album is middle of the road at worst, the cover was fun at least

yeah to me it feels like Dave knew his ability to perform this kind of music was running low, so he wrote a bunch of songs he felt in the moment and called it a life. I'm assuming he was also writing songs he'd still be able to play in 5 years time, though I'm sure half of this album will never be heard live.

Not that I hold Megadeth to a high standard since most of their recent output has been mediocre to bad but I'm not looking forward to hearing this whatsoever. The song titles alone sound like an edgy teenager trying to come up with song titles to spite their parents.

I think it’s a fine album to end on, certainly no Endgame level of excitement but I didn’t find it in any way offensive. You’re probably right @Sonoma about him just having fun recording an album rather than trying to write a lasting symphony (of destruction hehe)

pretty mid overall but tipping point slaps
also poetic for dave to start and end his career with Metallica

I thought we all agreed that Mustaine never grew past age of 15. This was already a fact.

Amen to that!

What are you talking about guys?
The lyrics in Peace Sells… But Who's Bying?, Rust In Peace and Countdown to Extinction are crash masterclasses in political economy.

‘ In his prime, he was the best guitarist of his generation, both rhythm/lead wise.’ he’s up there, but i think Marty beat him out on both fronts. So i’d say Dave wasn’t even the best in Megadeth

Chris Poland is better than Dave imo

Dave is a great guitarist and obviously has a knack for writing kickass riffs, but he was definitely never close to being the best of a generation, at least with lead playing

-- Marty beat him
Mustaine and Friedman are equal lead-wise, but rhythm-wise, Mustaine had no match.
On another note, this album is the quintessential 3.5; awesome while it's one, nothing stays in memory afterwards.
