it's remarkable that this has 700+ ratings after a year when this site is more or less dead

I was at the agriculture show last night and I think I’ve finally come to terms with the fact that Spiritual Sound is better than Lonely People With Power. I was honestly so surprised by the turn out too, maybe I just live in a weird city but I’d say roughly just as many people showed out for Agriculture as we did for these guys.
Both put on some of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. These guys are so unbelievably tight live, like everyone is just locked tf in. Absolute professionals.

Did you like their first record or Living is Easy?
I’ll admit it does feel a little slapdash at times but idk I like the chaotic nature of it. Living Is Easy is probably their most accessible material if ya don’t like their little eccentricities

This is the best review of LPWP I’ve read, amazing work!
Re: Agriculture, the hype made me excited about Spiritual Sound, but it was a disappointment, it’s just too technical for me. My problem is that as far as I see bm (and associated subgenres, but post-punk as well), it’s about nihilism, burnout, self-pity and introverted spite, and these don’t match with Agriculture’s frequent tempo shifts, heroic solos and expressed instrumental craftsmanship. These are ofc also present in Deafheaven’s work, but their dosing is different, leading to a completely different flavor with no bad aftertaste (at least here and on Sunbather). So no, these two albums are not in the same league imo.

Never really deeply appreciated this band's sound (even their most lauded releases). But having listened to a few of the singles of this record prior to release I was mildly intrigued. Might still give this a go sometime. The preceding indicates it may be worth my while.

This has continued to be my absolute go-to album when I want something heavy and don’t know what to put on (other than dvne). Such an incredible release
