Amazing second listen…think ‘Pestilent Niche’ and ‘Ouroboreal Whorl’ are my top two, but ‘Grandeur’ and ‘Martyrs’ have some incredible sections too.

Strong throughout tbh

yeah this is cool, really creative, but a drum machine is pretty much always going to bother me.

don’t get me wrong it’s still a cool album I just wish bands would at least pay for a session drummer or something. save up an extra $2000 and it would really enhance your album.

I do not disagree at all brother! Always better to have a human drummer lol.

Speaking of drummers, can't wait to see Lille play live in 9 days!

you’re in for a treat. I saw him in the sanguinary tour and it was mindblowing.

Okay not a fan of the vocal and the drum machine sound on this one

These vocals are some of the best I've ever heard tbh. Kinda shocked you don't like them.

Idk, sounds like the budgie thread to me haha. I never really liked these cookie monster vocals. Wouldn't mind them with real drums I suppose

Yeah now listening to Ouroboreal Whearl, it has that Enslaved vibe of guttural screams which is cool. But production kinda kills it. Too boomy, which makes it sound like some weird cookie monster / deepthroating sound.

I could not disagree harder lol. Production here rules.

Nah, they could've also put way more effort in the drum sound. It sounds so much like a machine it is pathetic to be honest. So much unnatural mid frequency in the cymbals, clicking snares in the fills, I just cannot be bothered. Not hiring a session drummer on your 8th full length is super weird to me.

Vocals are subjective, I don't mind them as much, they just stood out negatively on the first track.

But what does a drum machine have to do with overall production? Idk, I don't hear what you're hearing tbh.

Production to me is the entire sound of the record; recording, effects, layering, mixing, mastering. The drums are unnatural, but mostly really sound mechanical due to the programming and mixing. You can do a lot with drum machines, it sounds like no effort was put into it here. The drums take up a lot of space in this mix so it influences the entire production.

Glad you don't hear it, but I really dislike it haha

There's too much good music in the world anyway. This is not bad though, just not something I'm eager to fully check due to aforementioned reasons.
