Ooo colour me excited

I really like this and it's still growing on me. Just not so sure ambient/quiet songs are needed on such a short EP.

Rolo Tomassi is always a good time. Need to check this out.

First: Rolo is goated
thus established: recognizing that they share a feature with a band, in very different measure, doesn't suggest they are that band, and how you feel about them. Femme vox that alternate between moody and ethereal, balance with controlled bark/roar type? They have more in common with themselves at their best than any other band at any point.
this mix is a little too modern and the guitars aren't clear enough to highlight the strength of their compositions, compared to other bands which wash out their sound entirely, to the point that it's just kick snare pad VOX, which this leans a little more than typical Rolo.
Still unimpeachable, and Eva sounds more gnarly than ever

I like what I’m hearing so far. I think the Spiritbox comparisons are fair with the direction they’ve taken. If I was Rolo I’d try to jump on Spiritbox’s coattails. Don’t get me wrong, Rolo are better, the rhythm section are beasts. Just Courtney is much better than Eva live unfortunately. I saw Spiritbox in London and Rolo this summer in Brighton.

Nothing special here for me. Tempest was great but everything else was just ok.

This is such a nothingburger ass EP smh. Shit is so weak it drew Spiritbox comparisons.

I’m gonna assume they were probably b sides from the last record

Damn that snare is loud af in the mix for Dead Language or is that just my speakers?

Loves his snare. Pretty unique, but it goes across all their later material?

fun little EP, I don't really get the negative receptions

Yeah it’s nothing mind blowing but it’s a nice little surprise for the fans… I mean they could’ve just put out nothing guys.
But this is a lot more than a gimme, the first three are for sure below their usual standard, but Unintending is damn good and would fit in just fine on their last couple of records

I like the EP myself nice mix of Rolo Tomassi styles of harsh and melodic in about 20 minutes. I just wished it was longer however, this ep is a nice surprise.

Honestly, I didn't make the same connection to Spiritbox. I see the point being made and I don't disagree entirely, but this EP is still less accessible than the majority of songs Spiritbox has released. Whether good or bad, the EP is Rolo through and through.
Also, I enjoy the EP. It's only 15 minutes and seems to accomplish what it needed without wasting time. It may not be on par with their previous efforts, but again, it's an EP and happens to be better than a lot of other garbage released this year (here's looking at you Underoath). Also, since we're a bit further along in the comment section, I'm assuming that it's okay to start trashing other bands now?

Super cool EP - makes me more anticipative of a new album.

Tempest and Dead Language are pretty sweet, don’t care much for the other two

"Damn that snare is loud af in the mix for Dead Language or is that just my speakers?"
No it's the mix, which might be one of the worst I've heard in a new metal record to date. It's profound how much it ruins the record. I think it's unlistenable.

Yeah they’ve really embraced the whole “overproduced modern metalcore” production on the last LP and this and it definitely hurts my ability to sit through more than a song or two

I get that but honestly with their sound being the way that it is I can’t really imagine it any other way.
Idk maybe that’s part of what made me like Time Will Die so much more, I dug their last LP but it just doesn’t have shit on that one.

Time Will Die and Grievances are neck-and-neck for my favorite Rolo.
