Not trying to convince, it’s just a matter of time 😉 jk I was just stating which songs I liked and what got me into the project. It’s a solid record nonetheless, the variety and dynamics gives this a leg-up against other releases and it’s fun to come back to. Usually when I personally have problems getting into something I just have to shed off any preconceived notions I have on what I was expecting cuz I’m not involved in how it was made, just only receiving the art.

I came into this thinking I would very much enjoy it, but the way this sounds put me off haha. If something like that happens I know there is usually no way I enjoy it later. However, if I come back to this in a few years maybe that changes. Or if I see them live by coincidence, something like that.

The genre mashing is pretty natural here imo, unlike a lot of btbam and periphery

this was fun! it definitely felt pretty natural. to me i hear periphery meets issues. some parts are a bit too much for me. first two tracks were kind of annoying at first but i settled in and liked most of the rest. great vocal performance, dudes got a set of pipes. oh no for me was my favorite first go around. super catchy but still heavy and has so many interesting parts. kind of nu metal-y. impressive to juggle so many moving parts while still being cohesive.
my other favs were wheel of fortune, future nostalgia and uh yaya. the blackgaze section in future nostalgia was nuts lol. didn't expect that. super vicious highs. need more of that!

Sounds interesting. I'll give it a shot

I'm glad you liked futures. I thought you'd have a more tepid response honestly lol

i usually do have a disdain for "XD random wackiness" but it is so well integrated here. probably natural as you can blend jazz, funk, pop and metal. i was expecting more like sleep token haha!

Vocalist is a monster, only part that didn't work for me was the repeats on wheel of fortune. Gets a little grating. That scream at the end of uh yaya gives me goosebumps

The weakest track on this is the closing track (Obsolete) unfortunately

Obsolete is so funny though. It's like a tongue-in-cheek power ballad. Honestly I think these guys are self-aware enough to do some stuff ironically and it shows here, and shows well. I try to keep in mind that we're kind of in a weird post-post-ironic world of music now, where influences are often implemented out of jest, with serious intentions coming across in the final product. I think that lack of ego in the process is fostering fun angles of creativity in many different corners of the music world right now, vianova being a case in point. They're obviously here to have fun for themselves and entertain others along the way, and I think taking it too seriously is a fault to be placed squarely on an audience that missed the memo. Imagine watching Shawn of the Dead and being mad it's not a "scary" zombie movie. Its a fundamentally rock-solid movie, but if you miss the punchlines you won't have fun.
tldr; periphery is still god-awful and these guys are good, but I'll admit the album art sucks genuine ass.

These guys do have a pretty fun sense of humor. Just by the music videos for all the singles telling a story about the sleazy music industry etc.
