Listening now and I dig it! I usually shy away from anything smacking of progressive metal but seems like they really do it right.
|
| |
progressive, sure, metal, eh, not so sure about that.
Progressive stoner perhaps.
Just labels though, the music is good, that's the key

is this an EP or two songs that will eventually be on an album that I don't want to play out before said album is out?

These two songs are just a bunch of leftovers, and scattered ideas from the last album that got reworked into the EP that you have in your disposal.

This EP is no indication (as far as I am concerned) of the sound of the next album...

Incredible Band... they are incapable of creating music that is anything less less than amazing and hauntingly beautiful

thanks. i hate the new thing bands do where they release 3-4 songs and i don't realize they are on a future album and then they don't have the same impact on said album after i play them out.

“This EP is no indication (as far as I am concerned) of the sound of the next album...”
Correct, according to the band’s own social media post about the EP: “After a sort of creative sabbatical in most of 2024, the band reconvened in Berlin last winter to start work on a new album. In the process of that, we decided to dust off a project that had been sitting on the shelf for years. What started as a few scraps from the Omens / Innate Passage era turned into an 18-minute jam that surprised even us — a track with one foot in our past and one in our future. Feeling this track neither belonged to that older era nor was quite ready for the upcoming Album 7, we chose to record it there on the spot and give it its own space as a special release.”

an apology aint gonna cut it this time pal

the band really excel at making the different sections of their songs flow into one another. you'll never find an abrupt or out-of-place transition anywhere.

"just realized that the Dead Roots Stirring album is without a review. I remember clearly that album having a review, it must have been deleted. A shame really..."
A REAL shame! I didn't realize that either...one of the best albums I've discovered this decade, excellent for both active listening and background while working--soooo damn groovy!
