Features are based on the quality of the review moreso than the album itself either way
Gave the first few songs on this a spin and damn its sick so far. Sounds like a more Gothic, sexier Chat Pile with a hint of Swans. Feel like this would be the perfect Halloween record so I bookmarked the rest for later.

Actually while I like the production on this after listening to their previous ones again I gotta say this seems to be lacking that booming low end bass that can cause it to sound a bit thin at times
Not sure how they overlooked that since the production is otherwise amazing, unless it was a deliberate decision, like obscuring the vocals was
Also yeah this is a great soundtrack for hello ween

wanted to do a review for this but just haven't felt up to it, and good thing because this review is fantastic
album is a hair below padded room for me - nothing here hits the heights of that album, but this is generally more consistent

I am really loving what I'm hearing from this. The Daughters and Chat Pile comparisons are clear but this is way more memorable without losing any of the intensity or dark charm. I'm overwhelmed by how terrifying and totally listenable this is.
Edit: Saw a comment on AOTY that called this Chat Pile meets The Cure and I can totally hear that. Superb review btw. It captures this thing's essence perfectly.

I love how bedrot is the most "wholesome" song on this album now that I know it's a concept one. Just sounds like the serial killer father catching up with his favorite prostitute yet again (female vocals going "how many times have I tried with you?"), no funny murder business or anything. I can picture him banging her while crying he's a monster and she's like yeah buddy join the club of all the other sad sacks I shack up with.

I definitely hear some lil peep esque emo rap in Tony' delivery as well, the first few minutes of Mary kate and ashley could come straight of one of his mixtapes, which isn't a criticism
Their panoply of influences is what makes them sound so fresh
And their ability to write songs in completely different genres while keeping their signature sound is crazy
I keep saying an album with this ambition and these themes and aesthetics could very easily and almost should be an edgy mess so the fact it's solid is a testament to how fucking talented they are

I kinda wanna show this to my gf just to see what she thinks, she’d honestly probably fuck with it heavy until she reads the lyrics lmao
