I really dig Sing to God, but this is hitting on a whole different level. What a fucking masterpiece.

First listen and it's a little long. But "Busty Beez" on is legendary.

A few thoughts after listening twice through and giving it some time to marinate:
I'm so happy Breed exists. Same with Lovely Eyes and Volob. Busty Beez is just WOW.
Volob has really nice trumpets (?) and Lovely Eyes has lovely strings.
I take back what i said about Volob being the best single however, because all three are great, they just needed time to grow on me. Woodeneye is placed perfectly.
It feels SO nice to hear Tim's voice on Ditzy Scene and Made all up (and Gen, which didn't make as much of an impression on me).
I kind of wish The May wasn't right at the start of the album. It would serve as a nice pick me up in the second half, or even after By Numbers. But it's just an OK song.
A Roll From a Dirty Place had to grow on me.
I love Pet Fezant as a closer, and although hearing that it was supposed to be Vermin Mangle, IMO it wouldn't have fit with the rest of the album and i just don't care for it as much as Pet Fezant TBH.
Also, the album doesn't really seem to hit its stride until Skating, similarly to what Walrus said above. I just chalk that up to Tim being his cheeky self, throwing a bunch of curveballs at us from the grave. And all the songs i didn't like in the first half grew on me anyway. (Execpt for The May, jury is out on that one.)

"Men in Bed" is such a great opener.

I'm saying this is their best at this point, just that little bit above 'A Little Man' and quite a step above 'Sing to God'....need to recheck the whole discog again though

Some tough competition for me this year, but it’s definitely up there

It's quite competitive, I have two other 5's already for 2025...but this album just seems the most substantial.

Has surprised me a lot zak, do need to go back to 'A Little Man' today and see if that's also a 5...have it on a 4.5 but I've bumped a lot of 4.5s to 5s recently.

Just revisited 'Sing to God'...yes, in full....I'm thinking the hit rate stays higher on this.
Also this one is just more my tempo I think.
Will check on 'A Little Man' next.

Really enjoy what I've heard so far. Gonna need to be in the right mood for 80 minutes of Cardiacs straight though. Not a huge fan of the way the drums are mixed here. Sound like your average muffled Garageband drums which is a shame
