You're 100% right Budgie. Brent's influence was undeniable on Mastodon's music, he was the quirky & the less "serious" guy of the quartet, but his quirkiness shined through his contributions. No one in the band had quite the same arsenal of skills than Brent had, imo. And if you ask me, it's the reason he wasn't into metal as much as the other guys that made him more of an accomplished player; because to learn all this stuff comes from a broader understanding and discipline of the instrument, and by listening to heavy metal alone you don't get that...



I find that his influence here is on the same level as all the other records, if not more. Just watch their "making of" documentary.
