tbh on second listen I’d say it’s better than Diamond Eyes, about on par with SNW, and just short of classic status like Koi

You’ll get a million different responses tho man, I love every single one of their records. To me this just feels like it pulls most from those albums, maybe it’s just having Nick back on the boards, but to me this felt like the logical next step after Koi

I’ll let it sit for a week but with 10 albums and thirty years behind them, I think it’d be a good time to rank every one of their songs. I reckon more than a few here would crack my top 25 and a couple would crack my top 10.

I’m not blind to it like I was with Ohms. I was very ready to call that the best album they ever made for like a month. I don’t really feel that way about this one, but I think it has more replayability, that’s not a word but you know what I mean.

I’m loving it tbh, it’s far better than I thought it would be when it was announced… hell it’s better than I thought it would me when my mind is a mountain dropped, that might be the weakest track here and it’s still incredibly fucking solid.

I also feel like this is the first record since Koi where I don’t think Chino ever really overreaches. There’s some questionable screams on Ohms and Gore, I don’t think that’s the case at all here.

Will probably end up loving this and calling it the best record of this century.. but for now it’s pretty disappointing.

4 songs in and it's already better than Ohms. Steph has his most interesting riffs since Koi No Yokan.

Why does infinite source make me think of a grown up Finch? Am I super way the fuck off here?

I definitely couldn’t rank this yet, but it’s possibly as good as diamond eyes (which I rank slightly above kny), though not quite on the level with their best albums (white pony, self titled, around the fur). But, who knows. Gotta sit with it a little longer.

This might actually be in my top 3 in their discog, I’m thinking Around The Fur > Pony > this one > self titled > koi, for now at least.

Abe is a real standout on this album. Beating the shit out of his kit throughout the whole album

Abe is always doing exactly what he's supposed to be doing. He never wastes a groove or a fill.
