My only complain is that the vocals are a little samey. I miss the screams and the belting out choruses of Pneuma. Otherwise very solid album, with gorgeous moments. I can see the TWBF comparison.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm finally not alone in equating something to TWBF 😅
Agreed about the vocals too. Not sure this album would lend itself to screams, but maybe shouts for sure? Either way, the quality of the songwriting and production makes it matter less.

yeah, definitely in the same vein as TWBF. not as much variety, but they are both doing the post-rocky emo alt thing

I really wanted to adore this but it’s missing something for me. It’s beautiful but it’s almost as if a lot of the songs follow a formula of building to a bridge/outro/crescendo of some sort and due to that some of the earlier parts of songs seem like means to an end rather than excellent stand alone parts.
That said, it’s beautiful as expected and the percussion is amazing. Just feel they kinda jumped the shark a bit with Ghosts. Prob like a 3.7-3.8 but I wanna listen more first.
MM always feels autumn to me.

@gravity - I also wanted more vocal variety. His general performance suits the soft emo stuff perfectly but they showed some surprising energy musically on this and I wanted more belting and didn’t get it

album is really good. I am happy they came back, and gave us a treat. I was a big fan of self titled, so this was a gift to me anyway. I feel thankful I guess

The s/t kinda rules
Idk I was actually quite underwhelmed, it felt as if everything was almost -too- understated, like there were all these kind of lovely bells and whistles that simply weren't up front and center to kind of add intrigue to the sort of insipidness of its base structure. I liked Ghost and the transition from Blue to Wedding Dress was lovely but otherwise I was a lil passed over by this

I love Pneuma!!! I really like the s/t!!!
But yeah idk this just kind of felt...idk too passive??? Like pleasant if I just want a sound in -general- going out for a passive boredom drive but nothing I found all that engaging

I agree with that take To be honest. Much prefer the s/t version of this sound to this. But I still enjoy this on its own. I want to sit with the lyrics a bit more too

I think some of y’all in here would really enjoy the new New Design record that just came out as well.

i 100% think more could've been done here but it is still oh so beautiful in its own right. normally, that's the kind of things that annoys me but idk, maybe it's because a month ago i couldn't even conceive a s/t follow up existing, this is still checking all the right boxes and is atm my 2nd favorite release of the year
