If I didn’t like their last LP, will I maybe like this?

Depends on what you didn't like, but this is a different genre. Shiki was thrashy psychadelic prog, this is thrashy symphonic bm

Nash I think there's a chance you'll dig this. Give her a go.

I'm gonna be in the minority here but SIGH with super technical drumming, and tighter riffing doesn't feel like SIGH to me. The drumming on this is so over the top. A lot of the orchestrations are a step down from the original for me as well. Mirai sounds great and the production sounds killer, but I just don't dig this as much as the original, which might be my favorite SIGH record. It's not bad by any means, but comparing it to the original, I prefer the original. I do appreciate that they really went for a reimagining here though with totally revamped musicianship on par with Shiki, which I also didn't enjoy for similar reasons.

i fuck with the new drumming and pared back orchestral elements, it's a much angrier hangman's hymn

That’s a wild take, Dungeon. The drumming on the original sounds so garbage after hearing this. I did a back-to-back listen last night and this version pretty handily crushes the original, which I’ve loved ever since its release. A few things are lost in the remaster tho, like the general playfulness of the vocals in tracks like Inked In Blood. Overall tho, this is how you do a remaster

Idk if I could put this ahead of OG just yet cause that album has been one of my favs for a long time, but agreed Gyro, this just kicks so much ass.

This goes hard, I had almost forgotten about these guys. Though, I certainly agree something's lost in this version.

If only the orchestral parts were just as pompous and over-the-top as the og this would be a perfect album… like they were even addressing how they hired real orchestra in the PR description so why did they tone it down!?!? I guess they wanted to show off how improved the guitars and drums are (they're amazing) but I didn’t need a trve cvlt thrash worship, I WANTED CHEESE
