“ Still waiting for the Owls follow-up.
The Work was a mess, as stated. One great song “The Void from Which…”.
This one…nothing compelling other than “House of Light”.”
We are one. Agreed on all points.

I haven't listened to this band as much as I should have. I'll have to check out the owls album, seems to be the rec from them. This is ok, sounds like a mix of Gojira, Ne Obliviscaris and some generic metalcore band. Has some ok moments but probably not something worth going back to.

Owls is fine but I think it’s massively overhyped by a lot of people. I will say that A Home is legitimately a great metal song and one of my favorite songs of the last decade… but with all the praise that gets thrown around that album in some circles you’d think the whole thing was that good.
Solid 3.5, better production might’ve pushed it to a 4. The performance is great but the drums do not sound good

The drum sound wasn’t good on the work either.

Despair Church through House of Light is a particularly great 3 song stretch. But the album is just kinda whatever. Could almost completely do without the last 4 songs entirely lol.

Having a self titled album and then having a song that’s literally your band name… that should be some epic shit not some of the most forgettable metal I’ve heard all year. It’s almost offensive how inoffensive that track is. Go big or go the fuck home guys jesus

Last 3 tracks are basically that time at a concert when you are so done with the show and just want it to be over. So your standing around chilling, enjoying the last moment best you can but are thinking how good bed is looking.
Bro what the fuck is this dogshit final track

haven't checked these guys out since before they blew up, never really grabbed me.

That's when you leave so you can beat the crowd on the way out and dodge the traffic.

Yeah I didn't know the debut thing was a joke either, read it as misprint.
The lead single was pretty cool.

lmao this is a perfect description! I doubt I'll ever even try to re-visit this. I normally do not rate rate albums only on one listen because it barely sinks in off of just one but I did not enjoy myself at all to even try it again

Put me in the minority maybe but this album is just packed with feel-goods imo. Sometimes death metal with a good old sprinkling of singalong sensibilities is chicken soup for the soul.

For me, it's more a tomato soup! It's fine but it's missing the components to compliment it better

Lmao bingo. I was so ready for it to be over. The last 4 are actually lame as hell (Logical end the best of the 4). Like there’s not too much here that’s inherently bad it’s just mostly uneventful. Every track I was like “oh that’s kinda cool” and then nothing I really wanted to hear again much. While the Work was polarizing, this is just… “oh cool a prog/tech metal album”
Also, it’s probably just his voice timbre, but I swear almost every time he sings it sounds like the same melody lmao

"Love Andy Thomas, but I'd take a new BCI record over this any day of the week."
