Good review, a bit fanboyish but that's Hawks style haha. Agree with most of points, except that for me integrity/cohesion/consistency does not appear as a strong characteristic of it, don't feel that pieces of the puzzle match perfectly but that's just me. And yeah all the elements from vocals to riffs to keyboards are next level here, as one expects from And Oceans. Great record, on par with the previous one and I'm spinning it on repeat for second day in a row.

Yeah idk this needs a relisten but I couldn't help but find myself wanting them to lean completely into the mesh of Castlevania-EDM (I hope this term makes sense) and black metal energy and instead it feels like the two energies contrast each other more than they should have, like sometimes they were just throwing it cause ok cool gothic EDM time and then back to cackling bm trems that I just didn't love??



Ofc that isn't to understate just how sweet those moments are when they come and that this is all v much a cursory listen that I was probably not giving proper attention since my shower was running for like 20 minutes of it lmao

check their album A.m.g.o.d. it’s where they started doing the electronic stuff you hear on this album and it’s better executed imo.

this is still good but their first 3 albums will always be some of my favorite sympho/meloblack albums.

I love every single one of their albums hard. I honestly prefer their comeback albums the most plus Symmetry but you can't go wrong imo.

I think I would like these comeback albums more if the production was different. they’ve all been pretty muddy and indecipherable in a way that makes it feel like I can’t really hear anything. which is a shame because I think the actual content is pretty great.

Damn I love the production on all of them lol. Very spacey. I know I keep mentioning it but CWM is one of my fav bm albums of all time. The melody and intensity just work so well together. Plus the comeback trio riffs harder than they've ever riffed.
