"the first two songs are also too long to start an album too"

They're not even that long. Look to Windward barely qualifies as a long song to me, and Emergence is almost short to me. I suppose length is a rather subjective quality; if I'm enjoying the music I don't really care about song length.

First listen through and my biggest gripe is just how disjointed the heavy sections feel. The guitars are bright and right in front in the mix. All that atmosphere and space the other songs/sections build is just obliterated. Compare it to The Summoning where those giant riffs feel like they’re at least in the same scene. It’s probably a songwriting issue as much as a production one — some of these breakdowns feel like jump scares rather than satisfying payoffs.

Glad this got a much better review

Agree with most, but Infinite Baths is great, and the lowlight is easily Provider. The worst song they've ever written I think. Most of all I agree with your praises for II, but it's worth mentioning that the band themselves seem to forgot he exists for 3/4th of this album... Just all in all a very confusing album with confusing decisions like that.
Kinda has me worried we're in for another Ghost situation with the singer turning a great band into a one man egotrip, ruining everything.

In an era of pop where songs are only getting shorter, and song structures more simplistic, Sleep Token songs just get longer and more adventurous.

Agreed. If it weren't on the album, I think I'd even consider rating the album as a 5.

Probably have had this convo before but it’s probably a mistake to think of them as primarily metal at this point. Way more pop and in general post rock/metal with their song structures. I’m sure someone else would say it’s something else.

First time I've heard this band. Have been hearing their name pop up alot thought I'd give it a listen. I gave them half a star for the last 3 minutes of the last song on the album.

Does not compute how a band has potential like that can put out an autotuned pop album.

Everybody is trying to do what Sleep Token is doing right now. Literally everyone. You can hear influences in pretty much every song.
