This is wonderful. On par with their last EP "Still", which has gems like "Feels Bad" or "Chesapeake". Those who like this need to check out at least those two songs asap.

Seconded on Still. I also could've written another paragraph on how the seemingly ridiculous concept of Familiaris wound up being a literal tearjerker by the time rainbow bridge comes on since I lost my dog of 14 years last summer. This band gets it.

Bro there's a reason there's the saying, "go with your heart" and not one for going with your brain. Doooo it

The cover and title sell a much edgier, darker record than this actually is. Excellent musicians but so far I’ve taken umbrage with the suburban white people scat break and the out of place blast beat section. Also, this is way too djenty.

I’m finally diving into this record and really loving it so far. I thought the scat break was awesome lol. Really fun album.

Super fun album! Great review, too.

Million's right: the music definitely subverts the expectations laid out by the album cover in a cheeky way.

The scatty parts remind me of ASIWYFA. And its something they've been doing for a little while too so I've gotten used to it by now. I'm glad they kept them.

I will say, the latter half of the album does drag a bit for me and feels a little same-y. Not bad at all, but just like one continuous song/concept that got a bit long in the tooth.

I thought "I listened" was a pretty varied jam but I see what you mean.

I’m really picky when it comes to math rock but this is fucking solid

I prefer math rock like Hella, Don Caballero, toe, and Tera Melos.

The band has a sound that is hard to pinpoint, but it does sound good.
