This wasn't awful, I heard one of the singles and I thought it was fine but I don't really know what anyone could expect from Underoath in the year 2025. I don't mind the industrial-tinged aspects, overall the production sounds pretty good. But yes, the songwriting is hit or miss, generally leaning into cringe territory lyrically.

Sometimes I forget you haven't heard some of the horrible stuff I've heard lol I'm more forgiving to this bc it still sounds better than stuff like unleashing my demons

Can't say I blame you. I do it sometimes whenever I start thinking the bands I enjoy are washed, helps remind me it could always be worse

I loved this band so much. Makes me sad to see what they've become. They were a huge part of my middle/high school days and I still love TOCS through Disambiguation.

I think I would be close to a 4 if the master wasn't asscheeks but eh

I agree that the recording actively works against the album. The recording lacks dynamic range and every sound is competing within the mix to take center stage. This, combined with homogenous time signatures and a bombardment of sounds, greatly contributed to the fatigue I experienced.

I’m not quite as critical of the UO “reunion” albums, but I would actually call this the weakest of said 3 albums. Not a horrendous listen, but nothing I feel compelled to listen more than the three times I listened, and I can’t even recall what any of the songs sound like just a few days later. In short, forgettable.
Voyeurist was actually a pretty solid imo, I have it at 3.5 but if we’re being honest, I’d probably put it more as a 3.2. Erase Me maybe a 2.8–the last 3 tracks on that album are solid, On My Teeth and Sink With You are decent (as I recall). I hate ihateit though. (Pun intended).

I haven’t been able to put Deafheaven down long enough to rage listen to this. Shame
I’m ngl bubs/venin how tf can you listen to modern Underoath and find enjoyment???? Like, if the solid parts aren’t maintained across a full song. It’s like actual work to try to get into
