Listening now.

These guys have always been a band for me that i should like WAY than i actually do. So far this is quite good but idk what it is about this band it just doesnt hook me like it should.

Esit 2: vocals are great but they dont always fit with the instrumentals imo.

Sunbather is quite possibly my favorite album ever and this could even be better. I don’t even have the words. But I’m currently working on a review myself. I’ve just been swamped with work. But plan to post sometime this coming week. This thing is insanely good

The final 2 are quite possibly the best things here and will likely blow your tits off

I just get metal souvlaki vibes from Marvelous Orange Tree. I want to see Rachel and Neil cover it

How is this good????

I could never get into Sunbather...

But this is like really really good... I like the post-metallish approach, they're amazing at pulling it out.

relistented to this quite a few times, easy 4.5 for me. Feels like a proper sequel to sunbather

I’m just glad that I’m not the only one on a Deafheaven hype train. Like I still stand by my 5 for IG. I still jam that album all the time but it’s pretty clear everyone hates that one. And I 5’d both NB and OCHL. Granted a few years later I moved them way down I think I got them both like 3-3.5 now. But this does everything right. Like Sunbather shows they can go the heavy shoegaze route. IG shows they can do the pretty/dreamy shoegaze route, and this proves they can do the black metal route (and might I add FAR BETTER than both NB and OCHL). I’d also say I like it more than IG. Sunbather might still get the nod being that it’s 12 years old and I’ve bonded a ton with it. But I won’t be surprised if I find this their crown jewel down the road. It’s just such a stunning record in every way. Super happy with it and can’t wait to wear myself out with it tomorrow on my day off. I’ve been playing it a lot in the lab at work this weekend. But want more one on one time with it. Wonder where they go from here

Ok, at last deafheaven made an album that talks to me. Standouts after 3 spins: amethyst, revelator, winona and orange tree
