Saw their gig yesterday, it was lots of fun as expected. They probably played this thing in full but also some jams/new tracks (?) that sounded a lot more colorful and weirder haha.

The runtime on this is wild, it's basically a dance-grind album lol
Listening now though and I'm digging it. Weird ass dancy no-wave or something, idk. FUC

They seem like they'd be pretty fun live tbh

This is kinda cool, some nice grooves. The Wingflap EP is likely their best.
They seem to have peaked already if the new album is anything to go by, what an absurd exercise of giving the listener as little as possible, presumably by design - demo-like samplers with absolutely no meat. Little snippets ripped up before any ideas can develop. I suspect excessive chin-stroking was involved.

Yeah their newest one is pretty frustrating. The production is fantastic, the writing is interesting, but treating it like a grind record is confusing and completely undercuts it. Maybe I'm just unc though because people seem to be liking it.

i really like the new one. think its a pretty subversive idea cutting the tracks as short / abruptly as they do. such a strange feeling getting the rug pulled under you every time you get comfortable with a groove... tho i can see why that would be extremely annoying to some. feels like phone scrolling.

That's actually a really good comparison, like an audio version of tiktok. Maybe that's why I don't like it much though because I've never really gotten into short-form video either.

It would work if there was some kinda of over-arching flow or set of ideas with a satisfying payoff. It feels like the grind-like format lends itself to bursts of noise and the new one is a) less unhinged than I'd want in that regard and b) strangely serene and lax. There's a lazy calmness that seems counter-intuitive
...again, even when comparing it to their past material which I thought had potential. This isn't exactly 'drawn-out' but despite the brevity it does feel more fleshed out and certainly settles into a few nice grooves.
